I think successful Unschooling/Freeschoolin' families are great warriors. And our greatest adversary? Fear.
Not just our own, but everyone's.

Hope, the fairy princess, on the family bed.
I have been hearing a lot lately about how Co-Sleeping can cause serious issues. I think that any lifestyle choice has risks.
20 years ago Babies were never to be put on their backs for fear they would choke and now people are instructed never to put them on their stomachs....Read Full Post »

Growing up, both Daddy and I had to do chores. Most of us did.
Yet we are still learning how to best keep a clean home without cleaning all the time. The evidence became clear; the old punitive way of kids doing chores is not effective . We had to find another way.
"So how are we doing it?"

Hope in her Santa hat; we all have one!
Hope (5) is excited to write her letter to Santa Claus at the North Pole and wants to put out milk and cookies on Christmas Eve, however, she understands that in this world, he is not actually flying around in a sleigh pulled by reindeer.

Hope was invited to her first friend's Birthday Party and we attended this past weekend; what an exciting event!
I wondered how Hope (5) would react but because we always model respect for the rules outside of our home, she had no problem adapting to the rules in our beloved friends' home during the Party.
Bonus; it was a ...Read Full Post »

We had our first 2 big Club meet-ups for the first time in a long time this week, as many of you know. and we are thinking Hope (5) must have caught something; she awoke yesterday complaining of a scratchy throat and by the end of the day she had a fever.
We cuddled up with her, fed her raw honey and helped her sleep. This morning I went shopping and picked her up...Read Full Post »

Here in Ontario, Canada, it's not only legal to BF everywhere, anytime, it's illegal to try to stop a Mother from feeding her young in public.

This weekend we lost our internet and phone line due to construction, right in the middle of things we were doing online.
Because we do not restrict screen time for ourselves or Hope it was not a big deal to just omit what we couldn't do from our lives until the internet came back.
