Will You Be My Freeschoolin' Valentine?

Posted on February 15, 2016 at 5:20 PM

Hope deep in concentration making this year's Valentines.

We LOVE to celebrate and we LOVE to LOVE so give us a celebration about LOVE?  We're in heaven!

We don't focus on the commercial side of things nor the purely romatic love side of things; we use Valentine's Day as a chance to get passionate about pink, red, hearts and loving gestures.

This year we invited Hope's maternal grandmother for a little party which was lots of fun to prepare for and experience.

We made Valentines...

...we decorated bags to hold our Valentines...

...we baked organic (even the pink frosting!) cookies and decorated them for the festive occasion...

...and otherwise feasted this weekend.

Homemade nacho cheese sauce, salsa and guacamole with organic tortilla chips.

Homemade chocolate mousse; it was divine!

So many learning opportunities as well! Here's a few subjects we gleaned:

  • Nutrition
  • Food Preparation
  • Science
  • Math
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Problem Solving
  • Socialization
  • Kindness
  • Visual Art
  • Organization
  • Creative Thinking

Instead of presents, we had presence and made memories that will last forever. We put forth effort instead of money to make it magical.

Organic homemade cookies; yum!

It's about love, real authentic love, for us, and that's why we celebrate an otherwise commercial holiday like Valentine's day.

Much Love Always,
Wendy - Freeschoolin' Mommy
